Update Velocity
Update Velocity is the speed at which we transform new knowledge, experiences, and feedback into meaningful changes in how we think and act. Learning psychology provides several foundations for this idea, including learning agility, cognitive flexibility, metacognition, and adaptive expertise. Together, these concepts help explain why learning is not simply about acquiring more information, but also about questioning existing beliefs, adapting to new situations, and applying what we discover. A person with high Update Velocity does not blindly embrace every new idea. They evaluate evidence, recognize when their existing knowledge is no longer sufficient, and make thoughtful changes. In a world where technologies, skills, and opportunities are constantly evolving, what we know today matters, but our ability to keep updating ourselves may become increasingly important.
